HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Bruce Rasey on the occasion of his retirement as executive director of the Howard Area Community Center; and

WHEREAS, The Howard Area Community Center is a social service agency providing free education, employment, and health assistance programs for community members of the greater Rogers Park area of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, The Howard Area Community Center is a collaboration of donors, community members, and service providers that provide often life-sustaining services; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey spent 30 years holding senior leadership roles in the human services sector before assuming the position of executive director of the Howard Area Community Center in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey led over 100 staff members and oversaw 40 individual programs within four agency divisions; and

WHEREAS, Under Bruce Rasey's leadership, the Howard Area Community Center overcame the multi-year Illinois budget crisis; and

WHEREAS, During the Howard Area Community Center's 50th anniversary year, Bruce Rasey led the organization to a record breaking year of fundraising in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey guided the Howard Area Community Center through seven years of sustained growth and forward-thinking leadership, which positioned them as one of the most responsive community organizations in the greater Rogers Park area of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Western Illinois University and a Master of Science in Community Mental Health from Northern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Rasey and his wife, Marion, plan to move to Florida, where they will spend their well-deserved retirement enjoying the warm weather; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bruce Rasey on his retirement as executive director of the Howard Area Community Center, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bruce Rasey as an expression of our esteem and respect.
