| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph J. Asperger of Granite City, who | 4 | | passed away on March 2, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger was born in Granite City to | 6 | | Nickolas and Katie Asperger on February 9, 1925; he graduated | 7 | | from St. Mary School and Madison High School and served in the | 8 | | United States Army Signal Corps from 1943 to 1946; he earned | 9 | | his teaching degree in 1950 from Northeast Missouri State | 10 | | Teachers College; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger spent the first two years of his | 12 | | teaching career at Catholic High School (Laboure); he began | 13 | | teaching at Madison High School in 1954, where he coached for | 14 | | 15 years; he also worked at Madison Jr. High School, Louis | 15 | | Baer, and Madison Middle School, retiring in January 1984 as a | 16 | | highly respected and loved teacher; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger was a member of St. Mary Catholic | 18 | | Church, St. Mary's Boosters Club, the Knights of Columbus, | 19 | | AMVETS Post 204, and Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 222; he | 20 | | also served as a Venice Township Trustee and a Police | 21 | | Commissioner for the City of Madison; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger was preceded in death by his wife | 2 | | of 49 years, Bernadine (Varley) Asperger; his parents; his two | 3 | | brothers, Steve and Nick Asperger; and his sister, Catherine | 4 | | Planitz; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Asperger is survived by his sons, Richard | 6 | | (Stacy) Asperger and Charles M. (Debbie) Asperger; his | 7 | | grandchildren, Nicholas and Colin Fischer, Aaron and Justin | 8 | | Asperger, and Ashley Ambuel; and his great-grandchildren, | 9 | | Rylan Fischer and Noah Ambuel; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Joseph J. Asperger, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Joseph Asperger as an expression of | 17 | | our deepest sympathy.
