SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Health care is a growing industry, and creating
3changes in the system to ensure quality care while efficiently
4managing the cost of the health care system is more important
5than ever; the use of a 24-Hour nurse hotline has been
6established in other states and seen positive results; it is
7necessary to establish a task force to research the benefits
8and costs of creating a 24-hour nurse hotline for all citizens
9of the State; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
12CONCURRING HEREIN, that there is created the 24-Hour Nurse
13Hotline Task Force to study and make recommendations for the
14creation, operation, and usage of a 24-hour nurse hotline in
15the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, The Task Force shall consist of 11 members
17appointed as follows:
18        (1) four members, one of whom shall be appointed by
19    each of the 4 legislative leaders;
20        (2) a member of the Department of Healthcare and Family
21    Services, nominated by the Director of Healthcare and
22    Family Services;
23        (3) a member of the Department of Public Health,

1    nominated by the Director of Public Health;
2        (4) a member of the Department of Commerce and Economic
3    Opportunity, nominated by the Director of Commerce and
4    Economic Opportunity;
5        (5) a representative from a statewide managed care
6    association;
7        (6) a member of a statewide nursing association;
8        (7) a member of a statewide hospital association; and
9        (8) a member of a statewide medical association; and be
10    it further
 
11    RESOLVED, The task force shall organize within 120 days
12following the appointment of a majority of its members; the
13members from the Department of Healthcare and Family Services
14and the Department of Public Health shall co-chair the Task
15Force and serve as liaisons to the Governor and the General
16Assembly; meetings of the Task Force shall be held as necessary
17to complete the duties of the Task Force; meetings of the Task
18Force shall be held in the central part of the State; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That the members of the Task Force shall receive
21no compensation for serving as members of the Task Force; and
22be it further
 
23    RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall submit a report with

1recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly no later
2than December 31, 2016; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That the Department of Healthcare and Family
4Services and the Department of Public Health shall provide
5administrative support to the Task Force.
