SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leonard H. Thennes of McHenry, who passed away on February 23, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Thennes was born in McCullom Lake on February 6, 1919 to Philip M. and Catherine (nee Freund) Thennes; he married Mary Ann Diedrich in 1944 and they settled in McHenry; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Thennes was a long-time employee for Kleinhans Building Service and a skilled carpenter for S.H. Freund & Sons; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Thennes was a 70-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters; he also belonged to the Moose Lodge and helped build baseball diamonds for the McHenry Little League; he was an avid bowler, starting out as a pinsetter at Palace Bowling on Green Street and continuing through the age of 93; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Thennes was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Thennes is survived by his sons, James (Rita) Thennes, Jack (Linnea) Thennes, and Gary (Cathy) Thennes; his grandchildren, Jimmy (Stefanie), Todd (Niki), Scott, David, Christopher, Eric, Brooke, and Marc; his great-grandchildren, Drew, Mia, Zoe, Mandy, and Sean; his sisters, Stella Vogt and Bernice (Edward) Carson; his brother-in-law, Michael Thill; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leonard H. Thennes, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leonard Thennes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
