SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harold E. Lipofsky, who passed away on February 28, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was the son of Samuel and Bessie Lipofsky who founded Lipofsky's Department Store in Barrington in 1896; he served his country during World War II, stationed in Italy; and

WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky continued to run the department store with his brother, Henry, and over the years, his sister, Irene, and his brothers, Franklin and Bernard; and

WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was a past-Commander of Barrington Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 7706, past District 6440 Governor of Rotary International, and founding and longest-serving member of the Barrington Rotary Club; he was a Trustee of the Village of Barrington and past-President of the Barrington Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was the recipient of the Barrington High School Distinguished Alumni Award, a Trustee of the Wilmering Scout Cabin, and an active supporter of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Barrington; he led the Barrington March of Dimes campaign for many years; and

WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Irene (Sidney) Kramer; and his brothers, Henry (Mildred), Franklin (Lilian), and Bernard (Zelda) Lipofsky; and

WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was the uncle of Beverly, Barbara (Richard), Susan (Eddie), Marvin, Louis (Marion), Barton (Judy), Joseph (Pam), and Philip (Judy); the great-uncle of Lisa, Ariel, Dan, Steffen, and Sandra; the great-great-uncle to many; and the devoted friend of Kazimierz (Casey) Chmielewski; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harold E. Lipofsky, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Lipofsky as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
