SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold E. Lipofsky, who passed away on
4February 28, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was the son of Samuel and Bessie
6Lipofsky who founded Lipofsky's Department Store in Barrington
7in 1896; he served his country during World War II, stationed
8in Italy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky continued to run the department
10store with his brother, Henry, and over the years, his sister,
11Irene, and his brothers, Franklin and Bernard; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was a past-Commander of
13Barrington Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 7706, past District
146440 Governor of Rotary International, and founding and
15longest-serving member of the Barrington Rotary Club; he was a
16Trustee of the Village of Barrington and past-President of the
17Barrington Chamber of Commerce; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was the recipient of the
19Barrington High School Distinguished Alumni Award, a Trustee of
20the Wilmering Scout Cabin, and an active supporter of the Boy
21Scouts and Girl Scouts in Barrington; he led the Barrington

1March of Dimes campaign for many years; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was preceded in death by his
3parents; his sister, Irene (Sidney) Kramer; and his brothers,
4Henry (Mildred), Franklin (Lilian), and Bernard (Zelda)
5Lipofsky; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Harold Lipofsky was the uncle of Beverly, Barbara
7(Richard), Susan (Eddie), Marvin, Louis (Marion), Barton
8(Judy), Joseph (Pam), and Philip (Judy); the great-uncle of
9Lisa, Ariel, Dan, Steffen, and Sandra; the great-great-uncle to
10many; and the devoted friend of Kazimierz (Casey) Chmielewski;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Harold E. Lipofsky, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Harold Lipofsky as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
