SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward Guettler of McHenry, who passed away on January 31, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Edward Guettler was born on October 13, 1919 in Dexter, Minnesota; his parents were David and Helena (nee Groh) Guettler; and

WHEREAS, Edward Guettler served as a diesel engine master mechanic for the United States Army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Edward Guettler devoted his life to helping others as a member of Kiwanis, American Legion Post 491, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, and the Alzheimer's Support Group; he was proud to drive and maintain the 1928 fire engine in county-wide parades for the McHenry County Historical Society and to represent the city he loved as the 1992 Fiesta Days Parade Marshal; he also served as a Trustee for the McHenry Township Fire Protection District; and

WHEREAS, Edward Guettler was preceded in death by his wife, Marla; his daughter, Peggy Guettler; his grandson, Daven Edward Guettler; and his 7 siblings; and

WHEREAS, Edward Guettler is survived by his daughters, Sally Roth, Dawn (Tom) LaBuy-Brockett, Jean (Mark) Luchtefeld, and Julie Brunow; his special adopted daughters, Caterina Simon and Mercury Do; his grandchildren, Chris (Corki) Roth, Jennifer LaBuy, Matthew (Amy) Luchtefeld, Jane (David) Luchtefeld-Endres, Ben (Jen) Roth, Vanessa (Brian) LaBuy, Adrienne (Anthony) LaBuy-Dudek, Phillip (Anne) LaBuy, Daniel (Jenna) Roth, Jon-Patrick (Ellen) Bennett, Claire Brunow, and Marlee Brunow; his 18 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Erna "Tootsie" Morgan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward Guettler; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Guettler as an expression of our sympathy.
