SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Kreamcheck of McHenry, who passed
4away on January 28, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Kreamcheck was born on January 7, 1926 in
6Vestaburg, Pennsylvania; his parents were Joseph and Mary (nee
7Lemonski) Kreamcheck; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Kreamcheck served his country as a member of
9the United States Marine Corps for 5 years and was a veteran of
10World War II; after his service, he attended the College of
11William and Mary, where he played football and won All-Southern
12Honors; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After college, John Kreamcheck was drafted by the
14Chicago Bears, where he played under George Halas from 1953 to
151955 and was regarded as one of the toughest defensive linemen
16of his time; after his football career, he served as a Chicago
17policeman until his retirement in 1984; and
 
18    WHEREAS, During his retirement years, John Kreamcheck
19enjoyed golfing, gardening, watching the stock market, and
20spending time at the bowling alley, where he enjoyed having a
21good debate among good friends; and

1    WHEREAS, John Kreamcheck was preceded in death by his wife,
2Dorothy; his parents; his brothers, Alec, Stanley, Peter,
3Walter "Buggs", and Edward "Midge" Kreamcheck; and his sisters,
4Frances (Fritz) Santo, Estelle Kennedy, and Margaret Prescott;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Kreamcheck is survived by his sister-in-law,
7Ann (the late Edward "Midge") Kreamcheck, and his many nieces
8and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of John Kreamcheck; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of John Kreamcheck as an expression of
15our sympathy.
