SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Don Dunavan of Danville, who passed away
4on February 7, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Dunavan was born on November 22, 1946 in
6Danville to Ralph and Ellen (nee Story) Dunavan; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Don Dunavan worked at the Hyster Company as a tool
8and die maker for over 30 years; he was part of the Union
9Executive Committee for 18 years, serving as President for 5
10years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don Dunavan was the Democrat County Chairman from
122002 to 2010 and served as Vice-President of the Presidential
13Committee during President Obama's 2008 presidential race; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Don Dunavan was the late-model track champion at
15the Vermilion County Speedway; he was a 42-year member of the
16Masonic Lodge and of the Scottish Rite since 1976; he was a fan
17of the Chicago Bears and the Illini and was a member of "the
18chain gang" at Bismarck High School for 38 years, never missing
19a game; he was an avid Sprint Car fan and enjoyed spending
20winters in Eustis, Florida for Speed Week and Bike Week; he
21also enjoyed riding his Harley, going to motorcycle events, and

1attending H.O.G. rallies; he liked to travel to flea markets in
2Florida and help people with mowing and plowing snow; he was a
3member of Crossroads Christian Church and enjoyed skiing, golf,
4deer hunting, country line dancing, and rodeos; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Dunavan was preceded in death by his parents
6and by his wife, Sondra; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Don Dunavan is survived by his brother, Dan (Katy)
8Dunavan; his sister, Mary Jo (Marvin) McDonald; his daughters,
9Desire (Chad) Wear and Tamara (Chris) Gudauskas; his
10grandchildren, Marshall and Donavan Gudauskas; and his special
11friend, Joellyn Krauel; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Don Dunavan, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
15friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Don Dunavan as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
