SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Patricia Ann (nee Robinson) Irons of Decatur, who passed away on February 5, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Irons was born in Chicago on November 2, 1952 to Julius Anderson and Mattie (nee Johnson) Robinson; she graduated from Wendell Phillips Academy High School and she married Steven Irons, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Irons retired from the Clinton Nuclear Power Station in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Irons was a member of Church of Christ North Jasper in Decatur where she was involved in several areas, including serving as Church Information Announcer; she had a love of performing and had been a member of the RCC Players, an original member of "Phenomenal Women", a member of the African-American Community Theatre, and founder and President of the Decatur Power Drillers; she was a past member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a mentor for Dove, Inc.'s Re-entry program, and the drill team coach for the Decatur Power Drillers; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Irons was preceded in death by her husband and by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Irons is survived by her daughters, Darsonya (Ted) Switzer, Traci Moore, Je'Taun Irons (Lloyd), Stephanie (Andre) Horne, and Nichole Irons (Glendale, Sr.); her sister, Sandra Robinson; her grandchildren, Steven, Domonique, DiAndria, Antoneo, DaMecia, Taelor, LaTajia, Laraven, Edwin, Kamen, Erieca, Caprea, Nicholas, Jazmine, DaeLin, Torrica, Glendale, Jr., and Ava; her great-grandchildren, Ariauna, Joseph, Julian, Journee, D'Laijia, Kylin, Kaydon, Jacari, Ira III, and Ilyana; her sister-in-law, Penny Murray; her brother-in-law, William E. Irons; her nieces, Michelle, Danielle, and Elaan; her nephews, John, Germaine, and Jerel; her great-nephew, Darian; a host of family and friends; and a very special extended family, the Decatur Power Drillers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Patricia Ann Irons, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Patricia Irons as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
