SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Catherine "Kate" A. (nee Heffernan) Sklare of Joliet, who passed away on January 5, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare was born on March 13, 1924 in Chicago to Mary and John Heffernan; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately know as Grandma "Cake", Catherine Sklare was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing Bingo and baking; she was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #367 Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare was preceded in death by by her husband, Henry W. Sklare; her parents; her siblings; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Sklare; and her son-in-law, David Allen, Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Catherine Sklare is survived by her children, Joyce (the late David, Sr.) Allen, Dr. John (Laura) Sklare, William (Barbara) Sklare, and Patricia (William) Dietz; her grandchildren, Christine (Richard) Hurley, David Allen, Jr., Joshua (Kelly) Sklare, Erin (Matthew) Harrell, Mary-Lynn Foster (George Krueger), Scott Dietz, and Andrew Dietz; her great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kourtney Thomas, Kaden Hurley, Justin Allen, Maya and Mirielle Sklare, Grayson Harrell, Addison Dietz, and Jack Dietz; her cousin, Edward (Alice) Wilson; and her niece, Marilyn (Bill) Brogan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Catherine A. Sklare, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Catherine Sklare as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
