SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert L. Hoard of Peoria, who passed
4away on January 17, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was born on June 14, 1922 in
6Thomasville; his parents were Edward and Josephine (nee Smock)
7Hoard; he married Aldona L. Sterbis on May 14, 1944; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Hoard served his country as a member of the
9United States Army Air Forces during World War II; following
10his discharge, he moved to Peoria; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Robert Hoard and his wife owned and operated
12Palace Cleaners and Shine Parlor and Spring Street Cleaners for
1320 years; he worked as a supervisor with the Secretary of State
14Driver's License Department for several years and the Illinois
15Department of Transportation for 23 years; he also owned and
16remodeled rental houses for many years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was a past president of the Sertoma
18Club and a 6-decade member of AMVETS Post 64, where he was a
19past commander and board president; he was also a member of
20Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria for many years; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Hoard was preceded in death by his parents;
2his sister, Josephine Hemberger; and his brother, Chet Hoard;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Robert Hoard is survived by his wife, Aldona; his
5son, Gregory (Nancy) Hoard; his granddaughters, Rachel and
6Faith; his sisters, Margaret Dorsey, Lorretta Cloyed, Erma
7Fedor, Lou Cummings, and Marian Marsalgia; his brother, Raymond
8Hoard; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert L. Hoard; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Robert Hoard as an expression of our
15sympathy.
