SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Delmer H. "Dusty" Powell, Jr. of Gurnee,
4who passed away on November 13, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. was born on August 2, 1954 in
6Danville; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. worked for Lake County in a
8variety of administrative positions, including Assistant
9County Administrator and Deputy Director of Planning; for 20
10years he served as Director of Planning and Programming for the
11Lake County Division of Transportation and managed numerous
12road projects during a time of explosive growth in the area; he
13retired in 2013; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. was a dedicated golfer and a
15history buff who loved to read historical novels and visit
16battlefields and other historical sites; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. was the beloved husband of Lore
18A. (nee Lemke); the loving father of Meghan E. Powell (Kyle)
19Filler, Jonathan P. Powell, Alexander J. McClory, Daniel J.
20McClory, and Katherine M. McClory; the devoted son of Delmer H.
21Powell, Sr. and Margaret E. (nee Reik) Powell; and dear brother

1of Lisa (Marvin) Mathius; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Delmer H. "Dusty" Powell, Jr., and extend our sincere
5condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
6him; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Delmer Powell, Jr. as an expression
9of our deepest sympathy.
