SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Delmer H. "Dusty" Powell, Jr. of Gurnee, who passed away on November 13, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. was born on August 2, 1954 in Danville; and

WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. worked for Lake County in a variety of administrative positions, including Assistant County Administrator and Deputy Director of Planning; for 20 years he served as Director of Planning and Programming for the Lake County Division of Transportation and managed numerous road projects during a time of explosive growth in the area; he retired in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. was a dedicated golfer and a history buff who loved to read historical novels and visit battlefields and other historical sites; and

WHEREAS, Delmer Powell, Jr. was the beloved husband of Lore A. (nee Lemke); the loving father of Meghan E. Powell (Kyle) Filler, Jonathan P. Powell, Alexander J. McClory, Daniel J. McClory, and Katherine M. McClory; the devoted son of Delmer H. Powell, Sr. and Margaret E. (nee Reik) Powell; and dear brother of Lisa (Marvin) Mathius; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Delmer H. "Dusty" Powell, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Delmer Powell, Jr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
