SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John E. May of Woodstock, who passed away
4on November 10, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John May was born November 8, 1935 in Spring
6Grove; his parents were Edmund and Rose (nee Jung) May; he
7married Nancy Porpe on November 29, 1959 at St. Mary Catholic
8Church in Woodstock; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John May served his country as a member of the
10United States Army from October of 1954 until August of 1956;
11he served as a Postmaster during the Korean War; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John May worked as a dairy farmer for 49 years and
13bred red and white Holsteins; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John May was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church
15in Woodstock and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hartland for
16many years; he was also a member of the Harvard Moose Club and
17the Knights of Columbus; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John May was preceded in death by his parents; his
19sisters, Barbara Hendricks and Susan (James) Cameron; and his
20son-in-law, Ken Foster; and

1    WHEREAS, John May is survived by his wife of 54 years,
2Nancy; his son, Brad (Amy) May; his daughter, Bonnie L. Foster;
3his grandchildren, Hannah and Elizabeth May; his brothers, Tony
4(Ann) May and Gordin May (Char Hansen); his sisters, Ann (Tom)
5Lalor, Mary (Butch) Leonard, and Rose (Ronald) Traven; and his
6brothers-in-law, Roger (Kathy) Porpe and Jerry Henricks;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
10family and friends, mourn the passing of John E. May; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of John May as an expression of our
14sympathy.
