SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of longtime WLS-Channel 7 political reporter and editor Hugh Hill, who passed away on October 18, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Hill was born in Gillespie; he served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and attended the University of Missouri, where he studied journalism; he married Jacqualyne Williams; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Hill arrived in Chicago in 1953 and started working in radio; after working for WBBM radio and WBBM-Channel 2, he joined WLS-Channel 7 in 1963, retiring in 1996; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Hill was a fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals and enjoyed playing golf; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Hill is survived by his wife, Jacqualyne; his brother, James; his sons, Caven, Michael, and Steve; his daughters, Helen Wenzel and Jennifer Vitter; his 9 grandchildren; and his 5 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Hugh Hill, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Hugh Hill as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
