SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wanda G. Palmer of Johnsburg, who passed away on October 9, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Palmer was born on August 15, 1922 in Grayslake to Jeppe and Arenta (nee Christensen) Jespen; she was raised in the Johnsburg area and enjoyed singing and yodelling as a child and was heard on WLS Radio in the 1930s; she married Harvey V. Palmer on November 14, 1943 at the Ivanhoe Church in Mundelein; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Palmer and her husband opened Palmer's Four Seasons Gift Shop in Johnsburg in 1973; the store remained a family operation until its closing when they were age 87; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Palmer was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Palmer was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; her parents; her brother, Nils "Bud"; and her sisters, Betty, Marie, and Lola; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Palmer is survived by her children, Sandra (Richard) Kollenkark, Linda (Dennis) Peterson, and Rocky (Donna) Palmer; her grandchildren, Tami (John) Pawlik, Wayne (Mary) Kollenkark, Shane (Shereen) Peterson, Jason Peterson, Derek Palmer, Hanna Mays, Vaughn Mays, Sarah (Brian) Dulek, and Megan Boyle; her great-grandchildren, Josh and Ben Pawlik, Luke and Issac Kollenkark, Ethan and Rilea Peterson, and Kierra and Kaden Dulek; and her brother-in-law, Robert (the late Patricia) Palmer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wanda G. Palmer, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wanda Palmer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
