SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Susan Ann Lemon McNeely of Jacksonville, who passed away on October 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Susan McNeely was born on May 24, 1950 in Jacksonville to Claude R. and Elizabeth (nee Duncheon) Lemon; she attended Our Saviour School, Routt High School, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; she married Charles E. McNeely on April 16, 1977 in Jacksonville; and

WHEREAS, Susan McNeely worked early on for the State of Illinois as a caseworker and later worked for many years as a substitute teacher at the Ivan K. Garrison Center; and

WHEREAS, Susan McNeely was a lifelong member of the Church of Our Saviour; she enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, shopping with her sisters, and caring for family; she was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals fan and took many trips to see them play; and

WHEREAS, Susan McNeely was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Susan McNeely is survived by her husband, Charles; her sons, Adam (Katherine) McNeely, Justin McNeely, and Christian McNeely; her granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth McNeely; her siblings, Geralyn (David) Merritt, Robert A. (Stacy) Lemon, Mark A. Lemon, Laura (Joe) Beets, and Claudia Lemon; her nieces and nephews, John Merritt, Lauren Manegio, Micca Donohoo, Brock Lemon, Nicole Beets, Elizabeth Beets, Andrea Cairo, and Brooke Beets; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Susan Ann Lemon McNeely, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Susan McNeely as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
