SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Christine "Nelly" Freund of McHenry, who passed away on September 28, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Christine Freund was born on August 1, 1921 in Ashippun, Wisconsin to Charles Edward and Mary (nee Mauer) Allen; she married Orville B. Freund on May 13, 1944 at Saint Peter Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Christine Freund was a homemaker and always provided a lovely home for her family; she was a loyal friend and enjoyed monthly lunches with members of the card club of which she and her husband were a part; and

WHEREAS, Christine Freund was a member of Saint Mary Church in McHenry; she belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Christian Mothers; and

WHEREAS, Christine Freund was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Orville; her sisters, Evelyn Allen and Mary Ann (John) Bohat; her brothers, Ethan, Clifford, Elanson (Josephine), Robert (Vera), Charles (Carol) Allen, and Bill (Mary) Mauer; and her son-in-law, John Steven Turner; and

WHEREAS, Christine Fruend is survived by her daughters, Darlene Freund, Terri (Tom) Widhalm, and Donna (the late John) Turner; her grandchildren, Dave (Cindy) Widhalm, Mark (Lynn) Widhalm, Mary (Justin) Smith, Tony, Matt, and Beth Widhalm, John (Jennifer) Turner, and Christopher Turner; her "adopted" grandchild, Prital Brahmbhatt; her 17 great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jenna Turner, Ava Widhalm, Melissa (fiance Jon Geinopolos) Widhalm, Kurt, Amy, Mia, Kira, Max, and Raina Widhalm, Julia and Peter Widhalm, Anastacia, Andrew, Elaina, Lucia, and Joseph Smith; her sisters-in-law, Bernice Freund and Carol Allen; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Christine "Nelly" Freund, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Christine Freund as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
