SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dennis Murphy of Willow Springs, who
4passed away on June 12, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy was born in 1943 in Elkhart,
6Indiana, to Wilbur and Caroljean Murphy; he graduated from
7Elkhart High School in 1961 and received his Bachelor of
8Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in
9West Lafayette, Indiana; he earned his Master's Degree in
10Business Administration from Northwestern University in
11Evanston; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy spent most of his business career as
13the senior staff accountant for Commonwealth Edison, Chicago;
14during his retirement years, he tutored students and was a
15substitute teacher at The Avery Coonley School for the Gifted
16in Downers Grove and at Lyons Township High School in La
17Grange; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy had a passion for American history
19and would accompany his wife and her Avery Coonley
20seventh-grade students on their annual trip to Washington,
21D.C.; he was an avid golfer and served on the Board of
22Directors of Ruth Lake Country Club and The Fairway Club in

1Willow Springs; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy was a fan of Purdue and Duke
3basketball; he also enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and taking
4care of others; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy was preceded in death by his parents
6and by his mother and father-in-law, Bernice and Jack Lask; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dennis Murphy is survived by his wife of 44 years,
8Deborah (nee Lask); his daughters, Kristin Murphy and Laura
9(James) Ferri; his grandchildren, Samuel, Thomas, and Lucy
10Ferri; and his sister-in-law, Barbara (Don) Neimann;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Dennis Murphy, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Dennis Murphy as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
