SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lonnie R. Skirvin of Kampsville, who passed away on November 29, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Lonnie Skirvin was born on July 26, 1945, in Louisiana, Missouri, to Charles Vinton and Frances Arelene (Pritchett) Skirvin; he was a 1964 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School; he married Faith Ann Stevenson on February 10, 1973, in Orion; and

WHEREAS, Lonnie Skirvin served as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War; he was awarded with 2 Purple Hearts as a result of being critically injured in battle; and

WHEREAS, Lonnie Skirvin was a member of the Kampsville American Legion Post #1083 and the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church; he was a life-long grain and livestock farmer and a 27-year member of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau Board; and

WHEREAS, Lonnie Skirvin was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Phyllis K. Skirvin; his son, Steven Ray Skirvin; and his mother-in-law, Emma Stevenson; and

WHEREAS, Lonnie Skirvin is survived by his wife, Faith; his children, Dena Skirvin, Craig (Ashley) Skirvin, and Ann (Shawn) Harshman; his sisters, Joan Myers, Ruth Ellen (Evert) Poyner, and Beverly Yokem; his brothers, Douglas (Dorothy) Skirvin, Larry (Kay) Skirvin, and Charles Skirvin; his father-in-law, Robert Stevenson; his grandchildren, Sarah, Grace, Allyson, Adelyn, Ella, and Landon; and his numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lonnie Skirvin, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lonnie Skirvin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
