SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John W. Lynn of Mundelein, who passed
4away on August 27, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Lynn was born on October 12, 1929 in Chicago;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Lynn was the founder and Director of the Kirk
8Players; he was a founding and the oldest member of the Kirk of
9the Lakes Presbyterian Church in Mundelein; he was also the
10founder and Director of the Mundelein Beauty Pageants and the
11Illinois Talent Competition; he was a member of the Mundelein
12Community Days Commission and the Illinois Fair Association
13Commission; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Lynn received the Robert E. Gard Superior
15Volunteer Award for faithful, long-term service to community
16theatre from the Illinois Theatre Association; in 2006, he
17received the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award from the
18Illinois Humanities Council and the Illinois Theatre
19Association; in 2013, he was given The Village of Mundelein's
20Outstanding Citizen Award by Mayor Kessler; and
 
21    WHEREAS, In 2001, Mayor Sindles proclaimed April 13 "John

1and Helen Day" in Mundelein in honor of their 50th wedding
2anniversary; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Lynn was preceded in death by his wife,
4Helen, and by his brother, Herman; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Lynn is survived by his children, Jon (Paddy)
6Lynn, Jeffrey (Sara) Lynn, Paula Marsh, and Jay Lynn; his
7brother, Jim (Dorothy) Lynn; his 13 grandchildren; and his 8
8great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11John W. Lynn, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of John Lynn as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
