SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John W. Lynn of Mundelein, who passed away on August 27, 2013; and

WHEREAS, John Lynn was born on October 12, 1929 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, John Lynn was the founder and Director of the Kirk Players; he was a founding and the oldest member of the Kirk of the Lakes Presbyterian Church in Mundelein; he was also the founder and Director of the Mundelein Beauty Pageants and the Illinois Talent Competition; he was a member of the Mundelein Community Days Commission and the Illinois Fair Association Commission; and

WHEREAS, John Lynn received the Robert E. Gard Superior Volunteer Award for faithful, long-term service to community theatre from the Illinois Theatre Association; in 2006, he received the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award from the Illinois Humanities Council and the Illinois Theatre Association; in 2013, he was given The Village of Mundelein's Outstanding Citizen Award by Mayor Kessler; and

WHEREAS, In 2001, Mayor Sindles proclaimed April 13 "John and Helen Day" in Mundelein in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary; and

WHEREAS, John Lynn was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and by his brother, Herman; and

WHEREAS, John Lynn is survived by his children, Jon (Paddy) Lynn, Jeffrey (Sara) Lynn, Paula Marsh, and Jay Lynn; his brother, Jim (Dorothy) Lynn; his 13 grandchildren; and his 8 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John W. Lynn, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Lynn as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
