SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois State Senate are
3saddened to learn of the death of James Stanford; and
 
4    WHEREAS, James Stanford was born on October 13, 1925 in
5Shaw, Mississippi; he received his education from Shaw Public
6Schools in Mississippi; and
 
7    WHEREAS, James Stanford accepted Jesus Christ as his
8personal Lord and Savior in 1957; he later became a member of
9Ambassadors For Christ Church under the leadership of his son,
10Apostle Joseph L. Stanford; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Stanford was a decorated soldier in the
12United States Armed Forces and served during World War II; he
13received 6 military honors and bars for his meritorious
14service; and
 
15    WHEREAS, James Stanford was committed to serving humanity,
16sacrificing his time and finances to help the downtrodden and
17those in need; he was affiliated with several community
18organizations, including Target Area Development, Family Cares
19Mission, and Safe Cities in Chicago and Cape Town, South
20Africa; and

1    WHEREAS, James Stanford was preceded in death by his
2parents, James and Guffie Stanford; his wife, Luversa Young;
3his sons, Douglas Carter, James Stanford, Jr., and Jimmy
4Stanford; his daughter, Charlie Mae Hunt; and his sisters,
5Maggie Hooker, Martha Bryant, and Arlena Van Buren; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Stanford is survived by his sons, Ozzie
7Stanford, Joseph (Debra) Stanford, Larry Stanford, and James
8Stanford; his daughters, Martha Coakley, Theresa Mitchell, and
9Sarah Persely; his sisters, Rosie Lee Mungon, Ozzie Holt, and
10Elvie Holt; his 32 grandchildren; his 73 great-grandchildren;
11his 24 great-great-grandchildren; and his many other relatives
12and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
15family and friends, mourn the passing of James Stanford; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of James Stanford as an expression of
19our sympathy.
