SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara Anderson Hudson of Downers Grove, who passed away on July 14, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was born in 1919 in Chicago to Helen Barlow and Walter Sigfreid Anderson; she was raised in the Hyde Park neighborhood and attended Hyde Park High School; she studied education and drama at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where she was an enthusiastic actress, appearing in "Hamlet", among other roles; she receive her Bachelor's Degree in 1941 and married her college sweetheart, George Raymond "Ray" Hudson; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson accompanied her husband to military bases in San Antonio and Amarillo, Texas, before settling in Hinsdale in 1950; during the 1950s and 1960s, she was active in Infant Welfare, the Daughters of the American Revolution, P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), and many other local groups; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was an active political wife; she helped her husband found the Taproot political organization and was a leading member of the Republican Women's Club and the DuPage County Republicans; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson enjoyed reading, needle-work, cooking, and traveling, including numerous cruises and trips to foreign countries; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson is survived by her children, Susan Hudson Fox, Richard Frederick Hudson, and Robert Raymond Hudson; her 9 grandchildren; and her 16 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barbara Anderson Hudson, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Barbara Hudson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
