SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence Samuel "Sam" Allen of Grafton, who passed away on July 4, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Sam Allen was born on December 29, 1989, in Jerseyville, to Lawrence and Penelope (Overcash) Allen; he graduated from Jersey Community High School in 2008 and attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he studied agriculture business and was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon; and

WHEREAS, Sam Allen enjoyed working on the family farm and hunting; and

WHEREAS, Sam Allen was preceded in death by his grandpa, Warren Allen and his grandparents, Harry and Frances Overcash; and

WHEREAS, Sam Allen is survived by his parents; his brothers, Seth (Stacy) Allen, Dustin (Amy) Elliott, and Josh (Gretchen) Allen; his sisters, Hannah (RJ) Lancaster and Frances Allen; his grandmother, Eileen Allen; his 10 nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lawrence Samuel Allen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sam Allen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
