SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rev. Lorenzo Alexander, who passed away
4on June 4, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander was born on December 8, 1967, in
6Memphis, Tennessee; his parents were Rev. Marvin E. Alexander,
7Jr. and Sadie Alexander; he married Yushemic Shemika Moore on
8August 10, 2003; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander and his family moved to Chicago
10when he was 2 years old; He graduated from South Shore High
11School; after high school, he enlisted in the United States
12Navy, where he served faithfully until his honorable discharge;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander was baptized at an early age at
15Union Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago under the leadership
16of his father; he served faithfully in the choir as a lead
17singer until he was called into the ministry to preach the
18gospel; in February of 1994, he was licensed to preach the
19gospel at Union Missionary Baptist Church; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander was employed as a cardiologist
21assistant at the University of Chicago Hospital; and

1    WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander enjoyed cooking and singing;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander is survived by his wife,
4Yushemic; his son, Lorenzo Jeremiah Alexander; his
5step-daughter, Ta'jah Edwards; his parents; his brothers,
6Pastor Ray Baylor (Tawanda) and Rev. Marvin E. Alexander III
7(Tenisha); his sisters, Roslyn Roberts, Sandra Faye Wooten
8(Larry), Marva Michelle Alexander, and Angelique Alexander;
9his godson, Anfernee Barnes; his godbrother, Dion Campbell
10Hayes, his 11 nephews and 7 nieces; and his many aunts, uncles,
11cousins, other relatives, church family, and friends;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15his family and friends, the passing of Rev. Lorenzo Alexander;
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Lorenzo Alexander as an expression
19of our sympathy.
