SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Lorenzo Alexander, who passed away on June 4, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander was born on December 8, 1967, in Memphis, Tennessee; his parents were Rev. Marvin E. Alexander, Jr. and Sadie Alexander; he married Yushemic Shemika Moore on August 10, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander and his family moved to Chicago when he was 2 years old; He graduated from South Shore High School; after high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served faithfully until his honorable discharge; and

WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander was baptized at an early age at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago under the leadership of his father; he served faithfully in the choir as a lead singer until he was called into the ministry to preach the gospel; in February of 1994, he was licensed to preach the gospel at Union Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander was employed as a cardiologist assistant at the University of Chicago Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander enjoyed cooking and singing; and

WHEREAS, Lorenzo Alexander is survived by his wife, Yushemic; his son, Lorenzo Jeremiah Alexander; his step-daughter, Ta'jah Edwards; his parents; his brothers, Pastor Ray Baylor (Tawanda) and Rev. Marvin E. Alexander III (Tenisha); his sisters, Roslyn Roberts, Sandra Faye Wooten (Larry), Marva Michelle Alexander, and Angelique Alexander; his godson, Anfernee Barnes; his godbrother, Dion Campbell Hayes, his 11 nephews and 7 nieces; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, church family, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Rev. Lorenzo Alexander; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lorenzo Alexander as an expression of our sympathy.
