SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betty McGuire of Venedy, who passed away on May 22, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Betty McGuire was born in Oakville on August 2, 1929, to James and Herta (nee Seiffert) McLaughlin; she was united in marriage to Leonard McGuire on July 14, 1951, in East Saint Louis; and

WHEREAS, Betty McGuire was a grain purchaser at the Venedy Grain Elevator for 25 years until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Betty McGuire was a former member of the St. Peter United Church of Christ in Oakville; she loved to play cards with her friends and enjoyed going on shopping trips; and

WHEREAS, Betty McGuire was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; and her brother, James McLaughlin; and

WHEREAS, Betty McGuire is survived by her son, Tim McGuire; her daughters, Julie (Tom) Adkins and Sue (Jim) Weber; her brother, Edgar McLaughlin; her grandchildren, Adam (Danielle) Rahman, Joe (Sandi) Weber, Zack Adkins, Karin (Eduardo) Martinez, Josh Rahman, Elizabeth (Chris) Hurley, and Maureen McGuire; her great-grandchildren, Danielle and Braden Weber and Ava and Noah Rahman; and other relatives and a host of friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Betty McGuire, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty McGuire as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
