SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Ann "Shirley" McCarthy (nee Gersich) of Gurnee, who passed away on May 19, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann McCarthy was born on March 6, 1924, in Hurley, Wisconsin, to John and Helen (LaForge) Gersich; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann McCarthy obtained her RN in Ashland, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann McCarthy enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and dogs and liked to peruse the weekly sales in the papers and submit Publisher Clearing House entries; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann McCarthy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward B. McCarthy; her sons, John P. McCarthy and Edward A. McCarthy; her brother, John "Buddy" Gersich; her son-in-law, David E. Stolarick; and her grandson, Matthew D. Stolarick; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ann McCarthy is survived by her daughters, Kathy Stolarick and Mary McCarthy; her sister, Suzie Johnson; her brother, Edward Gersich; her sisters-in-law, Marylyn Gersich and Anita McCarthy; her daughters-in-law, Brenda McCarthy and Rebecca McCarthy; her aunt, Evelyn Estrel; her 13 grandchildren; her 24, great-grandchildren; her many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Bessie Gordon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary Ann McCarthy, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Ann McCarthy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
