SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" Redden of Wood River, who passed away on January 16, 2013; and

WHEREAS, William Redden was born on June 8, 1927, to Hugh and Thelma (Frazier) Redden; he married Helen Wilkinson on June 11, 1949, who preceded him in death on May 5, 1989; and

WHEREAS, William Redden worked for Roxana School District #1 for 29 years; he was a physical education teacher, math and health teacher, and a cross country, track, and basketball coach; and

WHEREAS, William Redden married Donna Kemp on November 3, 1990, in Rosewood Heights; and

WHEREAS, William Redden enjoyed golf, woodworking, fishing, coin collecting, pinochle, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; he was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rosewood Heights for 55 years, serving as a trustee and on numerous committees; he served as a Wood River city councilman for 9 years; and

WHEREAS, William Redden was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; his granddaughter, Kristina; and his brothers, Hugh and James; and

WHEREAS, William Redden is survived by his second wife, Donna; his sons, Dave (Barb), Richard, and Darin (Chandra) Redden; his daughters, Debby Nicholas, Donna K. (Gary) Murray, and Diane (Don) Ford; his grandchildren, Shawn, Bradley, Alison, Donny, Kelly, Sandy, Rachel, Stephanie, Zach, Becky Jo, Vicky, Donnie, Deanna, Danny, Annie, D.J., Meghan, and Maddie; his 16 great-grandchildren; his 2 expectant great-grandchildren; his sisters, Marge (Sam) Carter, Jan LeFeber, and Betty (Frank) Pasternak; his sisters-in-law, Betty and Rosemary Redden; his stepson, David (Annette) Dennigmann; his stepdaughter, Dawn (Brian) O'Rourke; his nieces, nephews, cousins, and his Wilkinson and Kemp extended families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William Redden, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Redden as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
