SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roger D. Howerter of Canton, who passed
4away on April 27, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Howerter was born on July 21, 1944, in
6Canton to Edward and Zelda Fickel Howerter; he married Rebecca
7E. Schorey on July 1, 1966, in Columbus; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Roger Howerter was a music teacher at Riverview
9Gardens School in Saint Louis County and later taught music at
10the Cuba School District, last teaching 3rd grade; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Roger Howerter was a member of the Evangelical
12Free Church in Canton, where he was instrumental in the
13planning and construction of the new church; he was past choir
14and orchestra director; he enjoyed singing in the Spoon River
15Community Chorus, beekeeping, woodworking, and John Deere
16tractors; he was an avid gardener and his home was featured on
17the 2002 Garden Tour; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Roger Howerter was preceded in death by his
19parents; his grandson, Joshua; and his daughter-in-law, Wendy;
20and

1    WHEREAS, Roger Howerter is survived by his wife, Rebecca;
2his children, Timothy (Lori) Howerter, Stephen (Sheila)
3Howerter, John (Niki) Howerter, Jennifer (David) Bryant; and
4Jeremy Howerter; his brother, Rolland (Carol) Howerter; his
5sisters, Betty (Berton) Hollis and Avis (Paul) Blakenship; and
6his 14 grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Roger Howerter, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Roger Howerter as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
