SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Salvatore "Sam" Compagno of South Roxana, who passed away on April 20, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno was born on November 15, 1913, in Alton to Ross and Nancy (Rao) Compagno; he married Josephine E. Tiona on August 28, 1941; he served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a mapmaker; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno worked as a crane operator at Olin Corporation; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno was a member of the American Legion Post No. 126 in Alton; he was known as "Greeps" to his family and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and University of Illinois fan; he enjoyed reading the Alton Telegraph every day, loved going to Sam's Club, and visiting the Sportsman Barber Shop and Han's Barber Shop; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Christopher S. Compagno; his sisters, Bessie Little, Anne Elledge, Rose Foster, and Elizabeth Compagno; and his brothers, John Compagno (Little Johnnie) and Paul Compagno; and

WHEREAS, Salvatore Compagno is survived by his grandchildren, Christine (Bob) Coles and Christopher Compagno; his great-grandchildren, Adam Coles, Dawson Coles, and Addison Coles; his sister, Josephine Ufert; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Salvatore Compagno, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Salvatore Compagno as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
