SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul I. Poirier of Waukegan, who passed away on October 19, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Paul Poirier was born in Waukegan and was a lifelong resident; his parents were Dan and Viola Poirier; and

WHEREAS, Paul Poirier served his country as a non-commissioned officer with the United States Army in Korea; and

WHEREAS, Following his discharge from the Army, Paul Poirier joined the Waukegan Police Department, where he served for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Paul Poirier was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Bogdala; his parents; and 5 siblings, Donald (the late Coletta), Daniel (the late Florence), Jim (Rethina), Kenny (the late Maxine), and Rita (the late Carl); and

WHEREAS, Paul Poirier is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia "Sam" (nee Finley); 3 children, Paul (Diane), Penny (Mark), and Patrick; 5 grandchildren, Mark and Morgan Miller, Elizabeth Bogdala, Paul Jay, and Jessica Poirier; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Paul I. Poirier; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Poirier as an expression of our sympathy.
