SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William Andrew Gardner, Jr. of Buffalo Grove; and

WHEREAS, William Gardner, Jr. was a member of the American Legion Merle Guild Post 208 in Arlington Heights and the First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights; he was a member of Pipefitters Local Union 597 and an active volunteer at Maryville Academy; he also founded 16-inch softball leagues in the Northwest suburbs, including the Arlington Greens; and

WHEREAS, William Gardner, Jr. served his country as a member of the United States Army's 88th Infantry Division during the occupation of Europe following World War II; and

WHEREAS, William Gardner, Jr. was preceded in death by 2 sisters; and

WHEREAS, William Gardner, Jr. was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn Gardner; the loving father of Dianne (James) Renn, John (Gayle) Gardner, Thomas Gardner, and the late Dale (Eileen) Gardner; the devoted grandfather of Meghan (Clifford) Snatchko, Meredith Gletty, William Andrew Gardner, III, Lauren Gletty, and Cash Gardner; and the great-grandfather of John Ross Snatchko; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of William Andrew Gardner, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Gardner, Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
