SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Isabelle Rose Martin, who passed away on May 26, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle Martin was born on September 2, 1920 in Kankakee; her parents were Edward and Victorine (nee Pommier) Francoeur; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle married Francis Martin on Memorial Day in 1942, just before Francis was deployed to the Pacific front in World War II; upon his return, Isabelle and Francis started their family together, eventually moving out to the country and having 9 children; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle Martin enjoyed dancing with her lifelong partner Francis, reading novels, shopping, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens; she also was a devout member of the Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle Martin spent her entire adult life caring for her family; she was always proud of their accomplishments and lives, and she treasured the time she spent visiting with them; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; a son, John Martin; and a grandson, Nathan Barber; and

WHEREAS, Isabelle Martin is survived by 8 children, Mary Martin, Terry (Ilga) Martin, Michael (Wendy) Martin, Patricia Martin, Thomas (Sharon) Martin, Susan Simeur, Gloria (Robert) Romero, and Willie Martin; a special niece, Kay (Ralph) Norton; a sister, Blanche Sebastiani; a brother, Ivan Francoeur; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Isabelle Rose Martin and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Isabelle Martin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
