SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Lee Walker Jr., who passed away on March 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, James Walker Jr. was born on June 13, 1938, in Evarts, Kentucky, to James Lee Walker Sr. and Martha Lee (Pinkard) Walker; he attended Closplint Elementary School in Closplint, Kentucky, and Rosenwald High School in Harlan, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, James Walker Jr. worked at Johns Manville for over 10 years; he opened his own business in Waukegan, Walker's Auto Repair, and ran it for over 40 years; and

WHEREAS, James Walker Jr. owned and raced a car famously known as the "Lively Ford"; and

WHEREAS, James Walker Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, H.L., John, and Howard; his sister, Francene; and his niece, Theresa; and

WHEREAS, James Walker Jr. is survived by his daughters, Tina and Tracy; his sons, James III and Dejon; his granddaughter, Jasmine; his sisters, Loretta Pleas, Irene Elliot, Brenda Knox, Joyce Walker, and Merna (Tony) Franklin; his brother, Dairry (Lynn) Walker; his many nieces; his nephews, Gil Santiago, Rodney, Pontiac Bob, and a host of other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Walker Jr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Walker Jr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
