SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harry Jasper of Harvard, who passed away on September 20, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Harry Jasper Jasper was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands on November 22, 1925; he married June Stellema on June 28, 1949 in Leeuwarden; and

WHEREAS, Harry Jasper worked for the Dutch border patrol before immigrating to Harvard in 1954; he worked as a tool and die maker for 29 years at Woodstock Die Casting, where he was a union steward; he retired in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Harry Jasper enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family; he was affectionately known as "Opa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harvard for 60 years and a member of the Moose Lodge for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Harry Jasper is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, June; son, Rudy (Andrea) Jasper; daughter, Kitty (Ken) Powers; 3 grandsons; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Fred Stellema; a niece; a nephew; and many relatives in the Netherlands; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harry Jasper, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harry Jasper as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
