SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John David "Dave" Spoor of McHenry, who
4passed away on September 16, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Spoor was born in Chicago on May 24, 1948 to
6John W. and Rosemarie C. (nee Salzer) Spoor; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Spoor worked as an iron worker and was a
8member of Iron Workers Local Union 1, where he took part in
9helping build some of the largest buildings in the Chicago
10skyline, including the Sears Tower, the John Hancock Building,
11and the Prudential Building; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Spoor enjoyed fishing, riding his
13motorcycle, playing poker, going to the casino, working in his
14garage, and spending time with his grandchildren and family; he
15never missed a softball game or swimming meet for his
16grandkids, who knew him as "Poppa Motorcycle"; he was also a
17grandpa to all the girls and families of his granddaughter's
18softball team, Meteors Softball; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Spoor was preceded in death by his father,
20John W. Spoor; his mother, Rosemarie Spoor; and a brother, Joel
21Spoor; and

1    WHEREAS, John Spoor is survived by his wife, Norma
2McMahon-Spoor; his daughter, Melissa (Matt) Matusek; his son,
3Aaron (Jill) Spoor; his step-son, Aaron McMahon; 2
4grandchildren, Emily and Michael Matusek; 5
5step-grandchildren, Nolan, Jade, Serra, Kate, and Ian; a
6brother, Greg (Stephanie) Spoor; 4 nephews, Jason (David)
7Spoor-Harvey, Nicholas Spoor, Sean Spoor, and Zachary Spoor;
8and many loving cousins and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11John David "Dave" Spoor, and extend our sincere condolences to
12his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of John Spoor as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
