SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John David "Dave" Spoor of McHenry, who passed away on September 16, 2014; and

WHEREAS, John Spoor was born in Chicago on May 24, 1948 to John W. and Rosemarie C. (nee Salzer) Spoor; and

WHEREAS, John Spoor worked as an iron worker and was a member of Iron Workers Local Union 1, where he took part in helping build some of the largest buildings in the Chicago skyline, including the Sears Tower, the John Hancock Building, and the Prudential Building; and

WHEREAS, John Spoor enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, playing poker, going to the casino, working in his garage, and spending time with his grandchildren and family; he never missed a softball game or swimming meet for his grandkids, who knew him as "Poppa Motorcycle"; he was also a grandpa to all the girls and families of his granddaughter's softball team, Meteors Softball; and

WHEREAS, John Spoor was preceded in death by his father, John W. Spoor; his mother, Rosemarie Spoor; and a brother, Joel Spoor; and

WHEREAS, John Spoor is survived by his wife, Norma McMahon-Spoor; his daughter, Melissa (Matt) Matusek; his son, Aaron (Jill) Spoor; his step-son, Aaron McMahon; 2 grandchildren, Emily and Michael Matusek; 5 step-grandchildren, Nolan, Jade, Serra, Kate, and Ian; a brother, Greg (Stephanie) Spoor; 4 nephews, Jason (David) Spoor-Harvey, Nicholas Spoor, Sean Spoor, and Zachary Spoor; and many loving cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John David "Dave" Spoor, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Spoor as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
