SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Quigley Nall Fletcher of Palatine, who
4passed away on August 29, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher was born in Akron, Iowa on
6January 19, 1933 to Quigley and Fannie (nee Cooper) Fletcher;
7he lived for a time in Iowa, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Nebraska and
8Illinois; he attended Palatine High School for 2 years and
9graduated from Robling High School in New Jersey in 1950; he
10joined the National Guard and served with the United States
11Army during the Korean War; he was discharged in 1952; he
12married Diane in 1955 in Des Plaines and they resided in the
13same home for 57 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Following his discharge, Quigley Fletcher
15attended night school at the Illinois Institute of Technology
16in Chicago, where he received a degree in Civil Engineering; he
17was also a licensed Professional Engineer for the states of
18Illinois and Wisconsin; in 1952, he began working for Kimball
19Hill and Associates; he then worked for Fletcher Engineering,
20Harza Engineering, and Plote, Inc.; he retired from Plote, Inc.
21in 1989 and continued in the business with Glander Paving,
22Dipaolo Company, and Petro Paving; he fully retired in 2008 so
23he could relax and be at home with his wife, Diane; and

1    WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher was a founding member and
2Chairman of the Board of Willow Creek Community Church; he
3enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family,
4volunteering at church, playing cards, cooking, and sailing; he
5was especially fond of sports and loved watching his children
6and grandchildren participate in all of their activities; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher was preceded in death by his
8parents, Quigley and Fannie; his sister, Suzanne Woelfel; and
9his brothers-in-law, Dana Schubert and Donald Winn; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Quigley Fletcher is survived by his wife of 59
11years, Diane (nee Schubert) Fletcher; his son, Brian Fletcher
12(Mary Beth) and their sons, Benjamin and Charley; his son,
13Devin Fletcher (Deb) and his sons, Daniel (Jen), Jason, Joshua
14and his daughter, Makenzie and his step-children, Jordan Thurow
15and Vanessa (Bryan) Roberts; his daughter, Amy (Steve) Trende
16and their sons, Gregory and Matthew; his daughter, Wendy Wicker
17and her daughters, Georgia, Sophia, and Ella; his siblings,
18Nora Winn, Tom (Sandy) Fletcher, and Donald Fletcher; his
19sisters-in-law, Karen (Tom) Anderson, Stuart (Jan) Schubert,
20and Molly Schubert; he also leaves behind a number of dear
21nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families;
22therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Quigley Nall Fletcher, and extend our sincere condolences to
4his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Quigley Fletcher as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
