SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marlene Abdula Hunt, who passed away on December 23, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was born and raised in Waukegan and remained a Lake County resident for most of her life; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was always engaged in her community and active in politics; her passion for her community led to a career in communications, which she began by working at WKRS radio in Waukegan; she worked for the Pioneer Press, News-Sun, and Chicago Tribune until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was a Peter Lisagor Award nominee for her work on the series "Lake County: Boom or Bust"; she spent time working for the Tuberculosis Institute of Chicago and Cook County, Baxter-Travenol, and as a systems analyst for Allstate; she was a certified financial planner; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt's love of Lake County drove her to help people find homes there and she worked as a real estate agent for many years; she also donated her time to volunteer for Arden Shore, and to various local projects including creating and saving small neighborhood parks; and

WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was mother to Elisabeth and Edward Hunt (Lisa); sister to Fred Abdula (Anna Marie); aunt to Linda Considine (James), Patrick, Michael, and Lisa Abdula, and Paul Frei; and grandmother to Tyler and Henry Hunt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marlene Hunt, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marlene Hunt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
