SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marlene Abdula Hunt, who passed away on
4December 23, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was born and raised in Waukegan and
6remained a Lake County resident for most of her life; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was always engaged in her community
8and active in politics; her passion for her community led to a
9career in communications, which she began by working at WKRS
10radio in Waukegan; she worked for the Pioneer Press, News-Sun,
11and Chicago Tribune until her retirement; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was a Peter Lisagor Award nominee for
13her work on the series "Lake County: Boom or Bust"; she spent
14time working for the Tuberculosis Institute of Chicago and Cook
15County, Baxter-Travenol, and as a systems analyst for Allstate;
16she was a certified financial planner; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt's love of Lake County drove her to
18help people find homes there and she worked as a real estate
19agent for many years; she also donated her time to volunteer
20for Arden Shore, and to various local projects including
21creating and saving small neighborhood parks; and

1    WHEREAS, Marlene Hunt was mother to Elisabeth and Edward
2Hunt (Lisa); sister to Fred Abdula (Anna Marie); aunt to Linda
3Considine (James), Patrick, Michael, and Lisa Abdula, and Paul
4Frei; and grandmother to Tyler and Henry Hunt; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Marlene Hunt, and we extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Marlene Hunt as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
