SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betty R. Farley, who passed away on September 15, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Betty Farley was born on July 20, 1919 in Alton; her parents were Fred A. and Sadie (nee Poore) Redmond; she married N. Rogers Farley, Jr. on December 27, 1939 in Alton; and

WHEREAS, Betty Farley was the oldest living graduate of Marquette High School; she was also a member of the Upper Alton Woman's Club for over 50 years, a member of the Illinois State Chapter of P.E.O., and an avid bridge player; and

WHEREAS, Betty Farley was employed in the jewelry department at Famous Barr for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, Betty Farley was preceded in death by her husband; a son, N. Rogers Farley, III; a brother, Jack Redmond; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Thomas; and

WHEREAS, Betty Farley is survived by 4 daughters, Mary (Tom) Hoechst, Sarah Woodman, Georgia Farley, and Chris (Dennis) Jones; 9 grandchildren, Beth Hoechst, Christopher Hoechst, Nathaniel Hoechst, Amy Sholar, Eddie Sholar, Jr., Maggie Sholar, Katie (Chris) Wilson, Stephen Jones, and Kaylie (Tyler) Donaldson; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers-in-law, Mike (Rae) Farley and Harrison (Marie) Farley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Betty R. Farley; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty Farley as an expression of our sympathy.
