SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen Joseph Zriny, Sr. of McHenry, who passed away on August 5, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was born on April 7, 1945 in Chicago; his parents were Stephen and LaVergne (nee Stateczny) Zriny; he married Kathleen "Kitty" Phelan on October 31, 1964 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McHenry; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was employed with Waste Management for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was an avid bowler for years and was on the state board; he also enjoyed doing puzzles by the TV, collecting bird houses, watching the birds, old cars, and restoring old wooden antiques; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John J. Zriny; and

WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen; 4 children, Cassandra (Keith) Wright, SJ (Jackie) Zriny, II, Zabrina (Paul) Mihelic, and Johanna Zriny (Eric Chesler); 6 grandchildren, Matigen, Kyan, Jackson, Mason, Avery, and Sophia; 2 brothers, Robert J. Zriny and Charles Tonyan; a brother-in-law, Michael (Patty) Phelan; a sister-in-law, Jackie Jesse; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Stephen Joseph Zriny, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen Zriny, Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
