SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Bruens of McHenry, who passed away on July 19, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bruens was born on November 2, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his parents were Anthony Richard and Mary Jane (nee Peckenpaugh) Bruens; he married LaVerne Klajbor on October 14, 1967 at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Church in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bruens served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1960 until 1966; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bruens worked with the Santa Fe Burlington Northern Railroad for 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bruens enjoyed golfing, collecting coins, baseball cards, and stamps, and telling stories; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bruens was a devout Catholic and a member of the Church of Holy Apostles; he was also a member of the McHenry Polish Legion Post #188 and Knights of Columbus; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bruens was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne, and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bruens is survived by his children, Dawn (Michael) Chubeck, Michael (Colleen) Bruens, and Michelle (Robert) Reed, and his grandchildren, Jacob, Miranda, Kayla, Jack, Allie, Vanessa, and Haven; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard Bruens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Bruens as an expression of our sympathy.
