SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Shamiya Shante Adams of Chicago, who passed away on July 19, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams was born on March 11, 2003 to Willie Jermaine Adams and Shaneetha Marie Goodloe; and

WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams was an energetic, happy, playful, smart, and loving daughter who loved family gatherings and dancing; she loved to help her mother around the house and spending time with her grandmother who affectionately nicknamed her "Queen"; and

WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams enjoyed playing with her friends; she loved school and was always volunteering to participate in activities; her most recent activity was the Penny Drive in which she helped raise funds to get new books for the library; she was also a volunteer babysitter at the school where she would assist with babysitting kindergartners; and

WHEREAS, Shamiya Adams is survived by her mother, Shaneetha; father, Willie; brothers, Jaquan, Jalante, Jermiah (twin brother), and Jamarion; 2 sisters, Jaleeya and Jamiyah; 5 aunts, Tierra, Akalia, Erika, Tiffany, and Tarhonda; 2 uncles, Akmed and Johnathan; 2 grandmothers, Audrey and Nanette; 2 grandfathers, Roger and Eric; 2 great-grandmothers, Lourene and Ollie; one great-grandfather, Singleton; step-father, Taurus; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Shamiya Shante Adams, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shamiya Adams as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
