SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joanne M. "Jodie" Adler, who passed away
4on July 4, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was born on November 26, 1931 in
6Chicago; her parents were Mildred (nee Ward) and Harry Biddle;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Joanne Adler attended St. Hilary School in
9Chicago, Immaculate Conception School in Morris, Morris
10Community High School, St. Francis Academy in Joliet, St.
11Mary's College in South Bend, and the University of St. Francis
12in Joliet; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was part of the original staff of TV
14station WABI in Bangor, Maine, the first station north of
15Boston; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joanne Adler volunteered at the Shady Oaks
17Cerebral Palsy summer program; she worked with the early
18childhood development program at the Encyclopedia Brittanica
19Center at the University of St. Francis in Joliet; she was also
20the founder of the Fountainview Banquet Center, a special site
21for many different events; and

1    WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was a member of Sacred Heart Parish
2in Joliet and Mary Mother of Jesus Inclusive Catholic Community
3in Sarasota; she and her husband were the founding host couple
4of the Young Christian Nurses Association of Joliet, regional
5directors of the Christian Family Movement, co-founders of
6Joliet's Spanish Center, and regional members of the Christian
7Family Movement; she was also a member of the Catholic-Jewish
8Dialogue of Chicago and the Visitation and Aid Society; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was preceded in death by her
10daughter, Margaret Mary and her brother-in-law, Jack (Dorothy)
11Adler; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joanne Adler is survived by her husband of 62
13years, Joe; her brother, Ward Biddle. C.P., Passionist Order;
14her sisters, Jackie (the late John) Berg and Mary Kay (the late
15John) Aisthorpe; her sister-in-law, Mary Beth (Dr. Arthur)
16Wilhelmi; she was the loving and devoted mother of 7, the
17grandmother of 22, and the great-grandmother of 5, which
18includes Dan and his family, Jake (Megan), Rachel (Robert)
19Ayoung Chee, Emma, Josh, and Nathan; Teddy (Ray) Finney and his
20family, Bridget Thomas (Brad) and their children, Izzy and
21Ellie; Emily (Nanasei) Agyemang and her son, Finney, Jenna
22(Brian) Murphy and her daughter, Mary; Jackie (Sam) Tucci and
23her family, Sam, Tony, and Jeff; Chris (Lori) and his family,

1Meghan (AJ) Vivaldelli, Matt, CJ, and Sarah; Mike (Joanne) and
2his family, Kelly, Mike (Caitlin), Erin (Dave) Skaggs, and
3Collin; and Jay (Patty) and his family, Jenny, Joe, IV
4(Elisabeth) and his sons Joseph, V and Jon; she was also
5blessed with additional children, Mardo Caceres and Joy
6Basilisco, and was an inspirational aunt to numerous nieces and
7nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
10family and friends, mourn the passing of Joanne M. "Jodie"
11Adler; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Joanne Adler as an expression of our
14sympathy.
