SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joanne M. "Jodie" Adler, who passed away on July 4, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was born on November 26, 1931 in Chicago; her parents were Mildred (nee Ward) and Harry Biddle; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Adler attended St. Hilary School in Chicago, Immaculate Conception School in Morris, Morris Community High School, St. Francis Academy in Joliet, St. Mary's College in South Bend, and the University of St. Francis in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was part of the original staff of TV station WABI in Bangor, Maine, the first station north of Boston; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Adler volunteered at the Shady Oaks Cerebral Palsy summer program; she worked with the early childhood development program at the Encyclopedia Brittanica Center at the University of St. Francis in Joliet; she was also the founder of the Fountainview Banquet Center, a special site for many different events; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Joliet and Mary Mother of Jesus Inclusive Catholic Community in Sarasota; she and her husband were the founding host couple of the Young Christian Nurses Association of Joliet, regional directors of the Christian Family Movement, co-founders of Joliet's Spanish Center, and regional members of the Christian Family Movement; she was also a member of the Catholic-Jewish Dialogue of Chicago and the Visitation and Aid Society; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Adler was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Mary and her brother-in-law, Jack (Dorothy) Adler; and

WHEREAS, Joanne Adler is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe; her brother, Ward Biddle. C.P., Passionist Order; her sisters, Jackie (the late John) Berg and Mary Kay (the late John) Aisthorpe; her sister-in-law, Mary Beth (Dr. Arthur) Wilhelmi; she was the loving and devoted mother of 7, the grandmother of 22, and the great-grandmother of 5, which includes Dan and his family, Jake (Megan), Rachel (Robert) Ayoung Chee, Emma, Josh, and Nathan; Teddy (Ray) Finney and his family, Bridget Thomas (Brad) and their children, Izzy and Ellie; Emily (Nanasei) Agyemang and her son, Finney, Jenna (Brian) Murphy and her daughter, Mary; Jackie (Sam) Tucci and her family, Sam, Tony, and Jeff; Chris (Lori) and his family, Meghan (AJ) Vivaldelli, Matt, CJ, and Sarah; Mike (Joanne) and his family, Kelly, Mike (Caitlin), Erin (Dave) Skaggs, and Collin; and Jay (Patty) and his family, Jenny, Joe, IV (Elisabeth) and his sons Joseph, V and Jon; she was also blessed with additional children, Mardo Caceres and Joy Basilisco, and was an inspirational aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Joanne M. "Jodie" Adler; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joanne Adler as an expression of our sympathy.
