SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dolores M. Klein of West Peoria, who
4passed away on June 18, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was born on May 30, 1927 in Peoria
6to Thomas and Hazel Fosbender Gibson; she married Edward Joseph
7Klein in Peoria on May 17, 1952; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dolores Klein worked in the home raising her
9children; she and her husband also took in foster children for
10many years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was active in women's rights groups
12all of her life, and, in 2010, she was inducted into the
13Women's National Hall of Fame; she was past-President of the
14National Organization for Women and the National Association
15for the Advancement of Colored People, both in the local Peoria
16chapters; she was also very involved in the "Clothes Line
17Project", a national movement helping woman heal emotionally
18from domestic violence; she was a member of the Universalist
19Unitarian Church in Peoria; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dolores Klein was preceded in death by one
21daughter, Mary Ann Klein; one son, Christopher Klein; 3

1brothers; and one grandson, William Klein; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dolores Klein is survived by her husband of 62
3years, Edward Joseph Klein; her 5 children, Tina (Patrick)
4Puntoni, Paula Klein, Timothy (Deborah) Klein, Evan Klein, and
5Martin (Barbara) Klein; 6 grandchildren; 6
6great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers, John (Camille) Gibson,
7David Gibson, and Patrick Gibson; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Dolores M. Klein, and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Dolores Klein as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
