SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald L. Saltsman of Peoria, who passed
4away on July 3, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Saltsman was born on December 15, 1933 in
6Peoria to Grant L. and Mary A. (nee Hannamean) Saltsman; he
7married Eva M. Schrai on April 24, 1954 in Peoria; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Donald Saltsman was a Peoria City Firefighter from
91956 to 1984; he was the President of the Associated
10Firefighters of Illinois Local 544 for 12 years and was
11Vice-President for 4 years; he was the State Representative for
12District 92 from 1980 to 1996; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Donald Saltsman was an avid Chicago Cubs and
14Chicago Bears fan; he played in many softball leagues in his
15earlier years; he was a member of AMVETS Post 64, American
16Legion Post 979 in Bartonville, the Retired Firefighters
17Association, and the Retirees Softball Association; he was of
18the Catholic faith; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Donald Saltsman was preceded in death by his
20parents; one grandson, Joshua Lightle; one brother, Grant
21Saltsman; and 2 sisters, Ardella Ward and Norma Morris; and

1    WHEREAS, Donald Saltsman is survived by his wife, Eva; his
24 children: Lynn Saltsman Gutierrez, Kathy (Mike) Vollmer, Brad
3Saltsman, and Karen (Ethan) Lightle; 7 grandchildren: Angela
4Vollmer, Scott (Laura) Vollmer, Frank Gutierrez, Blake
5Saltsman, Eva Claire Saltsman, Maxwell Lightle, and Bennett
6Lightle; one great-grandson due in September; and many nieces
7and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Donald L. Saltsman, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Donald Saltsman as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
