SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of A. Wayne Downen of Bloomington, who passed away on January 17, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Downen was born on July 28, 1929, in Wayne County to Ralph and Cora Weber Downen; he married Mary Ann Boggs on August 13, 1950, in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Downen worked as a farmer and was named Outstanding Young Farmer for McLean County in 1962; he was a charter member of the Hudson Lions Club and was a member of the Elks Lodge and the McLean County Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Downen served as a board member for the Hudson Valley Fire Department; he was an active member of Hudson United Methodist Church for more than 50 years; he was a trustee of the church and served on various church committees; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Downen was preceded in death by his parents; his 4 brothers; his sister; and his grandson, Benjamin Downen; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Downen is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his sons, Stephen (Anna) Downen and Kenneth (Karen) Downen; his grandchildren, Stephanie Downen, Katy (Chris) Grady, and William Northcutt; his great-grandchildren, Kaleb Downen, Molly, Brooke and Korrie Grady, and Delaney Northcutt; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Wayne Downen, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wayne Downen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
