SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joan Provencio of Woodstock, who passed away on June 1, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Joan Provencio was born on October 3, 1934 in Cold Springs, Minnesota; her parents were Andrew and Marion (nee Pryor) Slight; and

WHEREAS, Joan Provencio served as a volunteer and worked for Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos Orphanage in Mexico and served as Madre to thousands of children; she retired in 2010 as the Executive Director of NPH International; and

WHEREAS, Joan Provencio was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al Provencio; a sister, Marilyn Long; and 2 cousins, Katherine McDonough and Janet Cremin; and

WHEREAS, Joan Provencio is survived by her cousin, Betty (George) Boesen; 3 nieces, Mary (Brian) Fodor, Patty (Rusty) Williams, and Susan Long; a nephew, Andy (Sharon) Long; and her NPH family throughout the world; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Joan Provencio; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joan Provencio as an expression of our sympathy.
