SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald Albert Waters, who passed away on
4May 27, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Waters was born on August 18, 1928 in
6Alton; his parents were Albert and Marie (nee Boercker) Waters;
7he married Phyllis Taulli on April 25, 1953; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Donald Waters graduated from Marquette High
9School in 1946; he subsequently attended Drake University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Donald Waters served his country as a member of
11the United States Army and was stationed in Japan from 1946 to
121948; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Donald Waters was employed as a Maintenance
14Supervisor for Shell Oil Company for 35 years until his
15retirement in December of 1986; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Donald Waters was a member of Saints Peter and
17Paul Catholic Church in Alton, where he was active in the St.
18Vincent DePaul Society and served as an usher and lector; he
19was also a long-time member of St. Patrick's Church in Alton
20until its closure, where he was active in Scouting, bingo, and

1the church's annual turkey dinners; he also served as an usher
2and lector; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Donald Waters attended the White House Retreat in
4St. Louis, Missouri for over 10 years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Waters was preceded in death by his parents
6and a sister, Joyce Rolando; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Donald Waters is survived by his wife, Phyllis
8Waters; 3 daughters and 3 sons-in-law, Donna and Bob Aszman,
9Sharon and Tom Hettel, and Laura and Tim Powers; 4 sons and 2
10daughters-in-law, David Waters, Thomas and Charli Waters,
11Michael and Susan Waters, and Robert Waters; 14 grandchildren,
12Matt, Julie, Danielle, Rebecca, Jordan, Karley, John, Jake,
13Tim, Sara, Chris, Angie, Emily, and Rachel; 4
14great-grandchildren, Avery, Ella, William, and Carson; 2
15sisters, Dolores Weaver and Mary Sue Winkler; and a brother,
16Gerald Waters; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
19family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald Albert Waters;
20and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
