SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Edward K. Du Vivier of Godfrey, who
4passed away on May 21, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Du Vivier was born on January 27, 1919 in New
6York City to Joseph and Eleanor (nee Keyes) Du Vivier; he was
7raised in France until the age of 18; he went to Avon, then
8Yale University and Cornell Medical School in New York City,
9graduating in 1945; he served in the Medical Corps of the
10United States Army from 1942 to 1948; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Du Vivier completed his residencies in
12Pediatrics at New York Hospital in 1950 and practiced
13Pediatrics with Drs. Pierce and Humphrey in Alton until
14November of 1988; during his practice, "Dr. Ned" became Chief
15of Staff and Emeritus of St. Joseph, Saint Anthony's Health
16Center, and Alton Memorial Hospital; he represented the Madison
17County Medical Society as a delegate to the Meetings of the
18Illinois State Medical Society for 35 years and was on the
19Regional Medical Peer Review Board in Quincy, President of the
20Downstate Pediatric Society, and President of the Madison
21County Medical Society; and
 
22    WHEREAS, After retirement at age 70, Dr. Du Vivier served

1for 3 years as Madison County Representative to the Silver
2Haired Congress in Washington, D.C.; he was on the board of the
3Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging in Belleville for 8 years
4and on the board of Alton Senior Services Plus for 8 years; he
5volunteered at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in
6Hartford, the Hayner Public Library, the AARP, and Leisure
7Friends; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Du Vivier is survived by his wife, the former
9Marjorie Jeanne Attebery, whom he married in 1947, and 7
10children: Joseph A. DuVivier and Toni Rizzo, Charles G. and
11Kathryn DuVivier, Edward F. and Mateboho "Matty" DuVivier,
12Katharine K. "KK" DuVivier and Lance Wright, David O. DuVivier,
13Louise D. and William Alsing, and Eleanor D. and Michael Dunn;
14and 8 grandchildren: Edward and Hea Jeong DuVivier, Dave Du
15Vivier, Una Kate DuVivier-McDermott, Joseph Pitso DuVivier,
16Alice DuVivier and Michael Rhodes, Emmett Perl, and Zachary and
17Alex Dunn; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Dr. Edward K. Du Vivier, and extend our sincere condolences to
21his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
22further
 
23    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

2our deepest sympathy.
