SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Doritha Davis, who passed away on August
425, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Doritha Davis was born on December 28, 1947; her
6parents were William and Eula Mae Miller; she married Raymond
7Davis; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Doritha Davis professed a faith in Christ at an
9early age and joined St. Michael's Church in Chicago; she later
10joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Doritha Davis graduated from Crane High School in
12Chicago; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Doritha Davis was employed with the Chicago
14Transit Authority until her retirement after 27 years of
15service; after retiring, she worked for the Salem Christian
16Academy, Chicago State University, and Coach USA; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Doritha Davis was a singer with the Thompson
18Community Singers from 1968 to 1973; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Doritha Davis was preceded in death by her parents

1and 4 siblings, Edward, Roylee, Ronald, and Diane; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Doritha Davis is survived by a daughter, Loretha
3Davis; 2 extended daughters, Tanya Morgan and Aquanetta
4Williams; 2 sisters, Yvonne Davis (Chicago) and Diane Powell
5Davis (Ronnie); an extended sister, Mae Johnson; an aunt, Hazel
6L. Miller; a special cousin, Rose Dantzler; a goddaughter,
7Cecelia Larson; 7 nephews, Tyreese, Ronnie, Kavaree, Derrick,
8Tyrone, Jerome, and Anthony; 3 nieces, Babsy, Lavetta, and
9Bettina; many extended nieces and nephews, great-great nieces
10and great-great nephews, cousins, church family, and friends;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
14family and friends, mourn the passing of Doritha Davis; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Doritha Davis as an expression of
18our sympathy.
