SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward A. Marolt, who passed away on
4February 18, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Marolt was born on June 2, 1926, in
6Waukegan; his parents were John and Helen Marolt; he married
7Theresa Marolt in 1950; she passed away in 1975; in 1989, he
8met Barbara Mathias and they were married on April 21, 1990, at
9Mother of God Church in Waukegan; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Edward Marolt served his country with pride as a
11chief radar operator on the USS Salerno Bay from 1944 to 1946;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, After his honorable discharge from the Navy,
14Edward Marolt went to work at the Mill for over 25 years,
15following in his father's footsteps; he also worked at Dynapar
16as a custodian until his retirement; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Edward Marolt enjoyed dancing, listening to polka
18music, traveling to his favorite vacation spot in Galena,
19eating a good steak, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago
20Bears; and

1    WHEREAS, Edward Marolt was the Vice President of St. Mary's
2KSKJ Lodge #53; he was a member of the US Steelworkers and a
3member of the 'Southside Gang', which included his friends Iggy
4Hodnik, Rudy Hodnik, Johnny Brencheck, Jim Kern, and Richard
5Hyde; he was an active member of Queen of Peace Church, Most
6Blessed Trinity Parish in North Chicago, where he and his wife
7served as Hospitality Ministers for the 7:30 AM Sunday Mass for
8many years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Edward Marolt is preceded in death by his parents;
10his brothers, Albert, John, and Lou; his sisters, Jennie,
11Helen, and Josephine; and his first wife, Theresa; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Edward Marolt is survived by his wife, Barbara;
13his sister, Frances Ogrin; his stepchildren, Vincent (Brenda)
14Mathias, Valerie (JJ) Steinhoff, Vickie (David) Hammergren,
15and Vivian Gaede; his grandchildren, Heather Mathias, Philip
16and Samantha Gaede, Joseph and Matthew Mathias, and Sarah and
17Sophia Steinhoff; his great-grandchildren, Ethan and Anya; his
18special nephews, Gary (Sue) Marolt and Lou (Sandy) Marolt; his
19special nieces, Pinky (Sam) Cameli and Joyce (Joe) Ptasienski;
20and his many nieces, nephews, and close friends; therefore, be
21it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
23ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

1his family and friends, the passing of Edward A. Marolt; and be
2it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Edward Marolt as an expression of
5our sympathy.
